green and pink yuma

i got a green and pink yuma at the MARS frag swap on sunday, i love it. i'd looked into rics and yumas before, but i never saw one that was a good price. i got this one for $30, it's about 2-2 1/2" across. i got it because i thought they didn't like much for light, and i had a perfect shaded place for it in the corner of my tank. but now i read that some of them like a lot of light. is this true? i don't really have a good place to put it where it will get a lot of light and lower flow. it's a hot pink and green yuma, looks awesome, but i want it to keep it's colors.

i'll get some later tonight. i have 215w tek t-5 over the tank, so i suppose it will get a bit of light, even at the bottom. i hope it's ok, cause that's where it's gonna stay. BTW, after looking at it, it's around 1 1/2-2". the colors are stellar, it got me addicted.

i thought that they didn't need a whole lot of light. that's what i was going on when i bought it. i think it will be ok either way, even at the bottom, i still got some pretty good light. anyway, here's pics:

i'll give it a while and then start moving out into more light.
thanks guys

BTW, is it good to direct feed these guys? i fed all my corals last night, but i couldn't get anything to stick to this guy.

It is awesome and an awesome price. If it doesn't work out for you I will be happy to take it off your hands!:)

Alot of people do not direct feed rics anything, but I generally offer them a little something on the nights I feed my other corals. I read that if they are hungry it will stick and they will close up on it, if they are not hungry they just let it pass on by. It seems to be true from my limited experience. Mine do not seem to have any trouble catching it when they want too.

That is possibly one of the best yumas i've ever seen. Congrats you lucky SOB! :D

I hope it gets healthy and muliplies like crazy for you so you can share the wealth with others.

You can target feed it cyclop-eeze and meaty foods like mysis. It should grow and multiply a little quicker if you do so as well as have a better chance at remaining healthy.

I second, third, fourth and fith everything everyone has said. WOW! Can I have your babies? (yuma babies, not man babies haha)

my gf might have something to say about you having my babies. :)

i wouldn't mind, but she's scary when she's mad

i love the yuma, hopefully it'll grow and i can spread the wealth.

wow what a deal for $30, Ive seen yumas like that go for $200. I agree with the rest keep it shaded for a while, when it starts reaching for the light move it slowly out into the open light. Be patient dont rush it.
