In trying to find out if they are part of the symbiotic community with pistol shrimp, I ran across this interesting tidbit of info.
In reading Wikipedia, I find out that they are "are bi-directional protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning that when paired up, if necessary, one changes sex to form a breeding pair. In the case of two females forming a pair, the larger of the two becomes male, and in the case of two males, the smaller changes sex to become female."
Is this correct? I picked up a pair of these the other day, and had intentions of trying to find them mates, but apparently I shouldn't bother.
Any confirmation is appreciated.
