Green birdsnest colony bleaching

My whole birdsnest colony has started bleaching out slowly over the period of the last few months. i cant think of what has made this happen. the only things that have changed since the two pics were taken is that i have a new vortech on the left. started doing 15 gallon weekly changes instead of 30 gallon changes biweekly. i stopped dosing reef chili a few times a week. its weird because my other colonies have been great and growing fine. i dont think this colony is gonna die, but its def lost color and bleached a bit. heres the recent stats

Seems like your other corals are doing much better than few months ago. Perhaps your tank is cleaner than before?

i did change my lights. i added 2 t5 100 watters for some actinic affect. although i think that might have contributed to the issue. the vortech i added on the one end is a great pump , problem is though, i think the koralia that i had before had a more laminar flow that could reach the center of the tank where the colony is. the tank might be cleaner now too. i dont know, im at a loss! the montis are looking okay. the grape monti is more purple than ever before. the orange is doing good too. id say half my corals have lost a little bit of color where the higher end ones have gained such as my tort, loisette and stylos

as of 10 days ago, i reduced the t5 lighting to just evening lights, for 2 hours a day. well see how that changes things, if at all

maybe not dosing the reef chili and upping your water changes your water is like luxtralarge said is to clean. maybe try the reef chili for a bit

Have you started carbon or bacteria dosing? Feed a little more.

been doing carbon for years now. added GFO reactor though a few months ago


i will be dosing some reefchili at night for a few weeks and lets see what happens

okay i think i know the problem. Easy fix. LOW FLOW the new vortech i added was a great addition but its not laminar enough to reach the middle area where the colony is. i put a nano koralia on the colony as a test. within minutes, the polyps have started comin out. lets see if this is the fix i needed!

i think it might causes of your gfo could shock your corals to loose some tissue, that case it happened in my tank i've lost a few corals & rtn. the only i can think of it is the phosphate media, darn i find some of this media really took shock some of my sps corals. i stop running this phospate things went ok. seriouslly my corals lots better than before now, with np bio-pellets along w/ mess bag of carbon really did great for my tank. my tank its a 110g w/nano wavebox - 2 MJ 1200 the flow is not much as far i can tell, corals its doing better than before.

i've lost some colors too, i was thinking about the gfo that's all what i know this causes of this problem. I'd used this NP bio-pellets now, for the first few week gives me a negative result rtn most of my sps basically the bottom base. Which is my mistake too i didn't even really took a serious to read the instruction not until i found out one of our fellow reefkeepers in our local community told me to feed your tank a lot atleast 4x a day or heavy feeding to keep your nutrient high in order to kick in this bio-pellets. oh boy you woudn't believe me the out come of this bio-pellets the color of my sps starting to come back polyps really extend crazy, all my fish seems to me are ok with this bio-pellets than gfo. anyway this all i can share w/u i mean your tank is so nice got those full colony of sps amazing, i'd just hope everything will be ok in your tank goodluck.
