Green Birdsnest

So before you say it I suck at taking pics and photobucket is not cooperating today. I have what I am pretty sure is a sour apple birdsnest. After changing thing up on my tank this year I have seen crazy coral growth. I woke up a few weeks back to a slightly cloudy tank and it cleared up within a day. Now I have birdnest coral popping up everywhere. There are at least 6 different spot I have found it springing up. Is it possible that this coral spawned?

Where is the photo? Sorry I had to.

Did you happen to notice small white balls on the polyps of the birdnest right before? Cause it sounds like your bird nest spawned. Which is pretty damn cool.

I haven't really been paying much attention to the tank lately. Seems like everyday I find more of it popping up. I never thought I would need my new aiptasia lazer for smoking coral.I assume that wherever it landed it will start growing. I will post a pic as soon as photobucket wants to cooperate.

Coral can go sexual and release spores. That Palau special on Nat Geo Wild last month showed some very cool video of it. I haven't heard about it happening in home tanks that often.

That's pretty awesome that it happened in yours! Do you run moon lights in your tank? Some of the stuff that I've read indicates that the phase of the moon may play some role in coral going sexual.

That is a cool video. I have run dimming leds for about a year that dim to moonlight to total darkeness and then back up in morning. I noticed a huge difference in the livestock. I guess this has to be the only way that the birdsnest is spreading like this.

That could be for sure I got 15 -1" frags and I am awfull remembering what the dang names are. As you can see it is multiplying.

It is a very prolific sps.

Of Course it is! LOL! It couldn't be some rare gem worth a grand that decides to take root all over my tank.On the other hand I am glad to be growing anything. Just back a year or so I couldn't grow anything to save my butt.
