green bubble algea

many of us have bubble algea, so what fish are there that eat this stuff? emerald crabs seem to be a hit and miss.

Is it a patch growing in a ball type shape? Also is it hard when you touch it? If so I had it in one of my previous tanks and would let it grow to a almost baseball size then pull it out. I took maybe 6 months for it to get that big.

I have had good luck with Tangs, and I have heard the same about Emeralds being hit or miss.

i have both kind it would seem. the individual ball type and the small clusters. my emeralds arent out during the day soo theres no watching them exactly. and i wanted a to get the painted rabbit fish but im not sure if he'll do the job or not. although he is a great looking fish. i do also have a hippo and a yellow tang but ive never seen them eat the bubbles.

I have Emeralds and have never seen them even go close to Bubble Algae. However ,my tangs pick at it all of the time. Occasionaly, a Bubble will get free and they will chase after it. If it is popped I have seen them eat it. BUT, I don't think it is one of their favorites. I think the Scopus Tang is the best.

I think manually removing as much as you can right before a water change would be your best bet. I've never really had a problem with valonia, but it wasn't until I gave my red sea sailfin tang away that it started popping up here and there.

CLOAK: thats not the first time ive heard of sailfins eating bubble algea. could be a route i could take. but the question is do rabbit fish/foxface eat bubble algea?

I don't know about the rabbit and the foxface. I've always heard that they might, kinda like and emerald crab, but I've no experience with either. That red sea sailfin though, if it was green, it was gone. Was the only fish in the tank for years.
