Green Coralline Algae?

My tanks is about 6 weeks old. Past the diatom stage...

My live rock is starting to turn a bit green in spots and the purple coralline is growing slowly as well. The green parts are not slimy at all and can't be scraped off with a toothbrush. Could these green patches be green coralline algae?

Any way of getting it to go more purple than green?

There is a green form of coraline. It generally turns pink/purple after a while. It's not clear whether the green turns pink or whether a pink form outcompetes the green.

Wait a while, and it will be pink. :)

My tank is also new and producing - I suspect - the same thing yours is. I too am waiting to see what color it ends up.

My rocks too turned green. It was a beautiful color and I wish some of them stayed that color. After about a week they began turning pink and eventually purple.

The same thing happened in my tank. It didn't last too long. All of the green eventually turned purple.

there was some green coraline on some of the LR I picked up the other day, it's nice looking stuff. I also wish it could stick around and coexist with the purple stuff.

I think both colors are nice though the corals stand out more against the green rock. If I had a choice I would probably go for the green since you don't see it. It's more of a shiny pastel color. Here's a shot of what it looks like. Again, mine is now purple.

Mine is not that green. Light green. Purple is more desired because I think green has a negative connotation as it is often the colour of nuissance alagae
