Green elephant ear split/ maybe dying

I purchased a green elephant ear
Mushroom a few months ago it had bred doing great and growing and feeding whatever I gave it, mostly mysis, nothing large. My water perameters are good except high phosphates. It recently split into 2 and each one was totally shrunk up last night and one of them had stringy spaghetti stuff coming out which I know for regular anemones is a bad sign... Is it a goner? Is there anything I can do to save it? My Yumas and other shrooms are great.
Will it emit a poison to the tank like anemones do?

Mine created a second mouth when I had it, but never split. Lots of strings though, on a regular basis. I doubt it's poison, just a lot of mucus / DOC / food particles.

the 'stringy stuff' are mesenterial filaments. their appearance can be from/due to stress, feeding, or antagonistic warfare against other cnidarians.
