Hello,

I have a 10g nano reef and i have a green hairy mushroom which is doing great its way too big.. and it'll only get bigger.. its attached to the rock and I don't know how to get it out... I'd like to maybe frag it somehow if thats possible? and just get a small piece of it left in the tank.. if i cant do that i just wanna detach it from the rock and remove it... its stinging my colt coral and covering all my zooanthids

thanks

p.s. i heard you can cut it from the rock with a razor blade? i dont know tho, i cant seem to peel it off with my hand so i dont know what to do

Just cut it off. Leave a little bit of the base attatched to the rock and a new one will grow from that.

be careful. it depends on what type of shroom u have. ive done it with almost every kind of hairy shroom, but i had a huge (8") electric green species that would not tolerate any type of propagation.

yeah i heard the base would grow a new one which would be good cuz it'd be smaller... but then it might outgrow the tank again.. so i'll cut him off eventually and then place stuff around where he was to maybe limit the growth of the new smaller shroom
