Green hammer with red on stalk - advice

My green hammer, (9 months) in my tank , has been less inflated than normal the last 2 weeks.

I pulled it out to dip it in Coral Revive and after dipping I noticed this bright red patch. It was slimy and I was able to brush off with a tooth brush.

Any ideas? Red cyano? This hasn't been an issue in the past and I don't see my other signs of red in my tank.

If it was cyano could that be the reason for poor polyp extension?

I do 10% WC every two weeks. Should I consider chemiclean?

If it comes off with ease then Cyanobacteria would be my guess as well. I don't think this is what's causing your Hammer coral to sulk though. Being that you just dipped the coral in Revive you might want to find a good spot among the rocks and just leave it alone for a week or so. If it doesn't bounce back to normal during this time or starts to look worse then you might have to start looking for answers. JMO, GL.

Sponges usually feel more abrasive to the touch than slimy IME. They usually don't come off with ease either, especially ones that appear to encrust like that red stuff does.

Low flow sounds good. Maybe somewhere on the lower level of the reef structure too. GL.
