Green Madarin Goby

On 7/29/15, I bought a healthy–looking Green Mandarin Goby from fine looking store on Long Island (forget the name).

I put the Goby in a 3.5 year old 75 without QTing it. Lots of pods crawling around tank.

On 8/15/15, I added a bag each of copepods and amphipods purchased from place other than Reefs 2 Go into the tank.

I also started feeding live brine shrimp naupli 3-4 times a week – directing flow of BS with syringe in area of GMG.

Tonight, I saw the GMG eating defrosted mysis shrimp. So yay. Looks like this one is a keeper.

One of my favorite fish. Good luck!

Just one thing: Mandarinfish are not gobies, not even remotely. They are dragonets.

Thanks.

I feed my tanks a cube a day of one of 4 different Ocean Nutition FFs – Formula 1, Formula 2, Prime Reef, and Mysis Shrimp. Once I saw MG scarfing down a mysis, I added a chunk of frozen mysis to each feeding. I also feed Nori to herbs and a squirt of BBS for smaller fish. MG seems to pick off BBS is they are resting on substrate in front of his face, but not if they are floating. So I squirt the BBS into substrate in front of MG. When BBS run low I substitute pinch of Blue Zoo mix, which contains a mix of 13 different foods – all the non Tangs/Rabbitfish love the stuff but I can’t say I’ve ever seen the MG eat any of it.
