Interesting question. I think the first question is do you have enough pods to sustain two dragonets?

Yes I do.
A 90 gallon tank would not sustain two dragonets.

Ive got thousands in there I know the whole 1 pod every 5 seconds and 12 hour day average 8640 pods per day thing im aware on how much they consume. Ive got a refugium in my sump that is loaded with them and tons in my display. My current mandarin is eating frozen mysis, clam, brine, tiny chunks of squid, even pellets so he is not affecting the pod population as much as you would nornally have with a mandarin who isnt eating other foods. Even still I feel I could do it.

Ive experienced housing a starving mandarin. I tried to keep one in a 30 gallon and ended up returning to the store when I saw signs of malnutrition. The mandarin is now in my lfs's display tank looking healthier than ever but thats off topic.
I feel that I could house enough pods for both and im not opposed to buying occasionally the 90$ 2qt bags of copepods from algaebarn that have approximately 12,000 pods in it.

which, by your earlier calculation would last for about a day and a half for one mandarin. I've tried the drill supplementing with live food for other pod-eaters (pipes, not mandarins, but the principle is the same). It gets expensive and tiresome.
There is also the issue, which I think was your original question, about whether these two will have territorial issues in a 90 gallon tank. I don't know and I hope someone answers.
Personally, I wouldn't push my luck on either front. You've gotten lucky to get a mandarin that eats other things. Dollars to donuts it's also eating pods, though. Your next one might not be so adaptable. But that's me.

Agree with this. I housed a male mandarin in a 20g long for a bit over a year. I religiously dosed pods. Was he malnourished? No, not entirely. It was when I set up my 90g and moved him over that I noticed how much healthier he should have been. After a year I decided to add a female. They lasted well together for many months until the male starved. My experience - two mandarins will not last in a 90g.
I currently have a 220g that's been running for a few years. I've been wanting to add two mandarins for a while, but I'm still hesitant.

I didnt ask if I could keep two in my tank I asked if a spotted and a green mandarin can be housed in the same tank
I haven't decided to do it I just wanted to know if it was possible to have the two varieties. I have a female was looking for a male. I personally want to find a pair for every fish in my tank I love the whole finding a mate thing. Was just throwing the idea out there to see what was possible. Because the idea of it all is just so appealing.

I knew you could keep ruby dragonets with them just didnt know about the spotted mandarins

Of course it s POSSIBLE, its possible to keep a clown tang and sohal together but 99% it wont work. Different reason but still wont work long term. Anyways yes two males of the different species WILL fight but a female spotter and psycadelic are possible IF sufficent live rock is avalible.

Yea im not going to try it. After thinking about what yall have said long and hard Ill just look at trying to find a mate for my marine betta instead .
