Green mandarin - good sign?

I've had my mandarin for about a month now. He was pretty shy at first, but after a few days he came out of hiding and has been active ever since. He doesn't get any of the food I add to the tank, but he flits around all day and I see him pecking at pods off the rocks and glass. It's been a month and he's active and I don't see any sign of getting skinny.

This is a very good sign, correct? If there was nothing for him to eat, he'd be in bad shape by now, right? I have a very healthy refugium and I removed a melanarus and copperband, so I bought the mandarin pretty confident in my pod population.

Good sign?

A good sign.. but its commonly expressed by the most experienced hobbyists that success with a mandarin is passing the 1 year mark.
So far sounds good though. Good luck the rest of the way.

Are you having a rock rubble in the tank or the fuge or just the chaeto for letting the pods multiply? Do you see pods all around the tank?

I have a lot of live rock in the tank and some rubble in the sump. I have a large chaeto sump. It's hard to see the pods, but they are in there.

so far, so good.

depending on the condition they came in you can usually expect them to start gaining some weight versus their condition after shipping. i know my mandy started plumping up nicely over the first few months in my tank, as opposed to how she looked when i first got her.

Now, get some Black worms or white worms and start feeding him at least 2xday and he will get nice and fat.
