Green Mandarin Question

I found the Green Mandarin that I purchased last Saturday dead this am. The LFS indicated that it was a female. my 120 gal has live rock and coral and the other inhabitants are thriving. The live rock has numerous places in which a fish can hide and many that only a small fish can hide in. The tank was stocked with cocopods (Tigger Pods) about one month ago and again the evening that i introduced the mandarin. It was picking at the live rock and appeared to be eating and happy. Last night at the end of the lighting cycle, I observed some unusual behavior. It was rocking back and forth and having a difficult time "breathing"?? The only analogy I can think of is asthma.

Since there are two spiny black urchins, I wonder if it ran into a spine and was stung. Somewhere, I read that touching the spines gives one a "bee sting" feeling.....

Does anyone have a more scientific understanding of what happened?????

Thanks in advance
