green mandarin question

hi. i had my green mandarin in a 20G quarantine tank which also housed an ich infected firefish. therefore i treated the tank with cupramine, copper level ~0.6 mg/L. after a week in cupramine, the color of the mandarin faded a little. so i moved it to my nano tank, and the color is back to normal. it's been in the nano for 3 weeks and i haven't seen any sign of ich from the moment i bought it from fish store till now. should i treat it with tank transfer method before moving it to the display? is it necessary? i'd like to move it to the display tank as soon as possible since it's been living in the quarantine tanks for a month already. thank you for reading. :)

Yes. Mandarins typically do not handle copper well. However, TT would be an ideal way to clear ich from a mandy. Being housed with the firefish has exposed your mandy to ich, and one week spent in Cupramine was not long enough to eradicate it.

thanks for the quick reply. i was hoping for mandarins are very resistant to ich so it might not have ich even though it was exposed to it answer. :D i don't wanna take any risk either. so i guess i'll have to do the tank transfer method then.

A mandarin's skin is very "ich resistant" due to their unusually thick mucous coat. However, their gills are as susceptible as any other fish. So, you are making the right call by playing it safe.
