green slimer vs. pink mili

The 2 acros touched after the pink mili colony fell to the side into the green slimer. Both colonies were fully encrusted, and I've had them for over a year.

The pink mili was no match for the green slimer, who left unharmed. The millepora, unfortunately, lost all coloration overnight, and started STN from the base. Fragged off some remaining branches of the millepora, but sadly had to toss away the colony :(

gemini: thanks, I hope the saved frags bounce back, right now they look terrible.

raskal311: yikes, that sux :( I was expecting to lose the branch that touch the other acro, I did not expect it to wipe off the colony the way it did.

SPS corals sting? So just a quick touch can mean bye-bye? That is crazy stuff.

How far should I glue my frags then? I dont get it..What about those SPS domintaed tanks they've got to be touching right?

Thanks, and I hope ur coral recovers.

They sure sting. I don't think a quick touch would doom the coral, but I think a few minutes is enough to make the corals react. I also heard people can develop irritation to their sting over time.

I'd glue them a few (4-6) inches apart. All depends on the sps, some grow wider and taller branches than others. If you put them too close, you'll be needing to frag more often to keep them from touching.

Thanks, and I hope ur coral recovers.
