Greyson's 18G Nano Build

@biocubeguy not yet .. because i just got news that i may be moving soon ...so i am just going to hold off for now. been using the distilled/rodi from the store. a gallon lasts me a week for top off, and i been doing a gal a week change so its no sweat.

@g_sanab922 thank you !

ahh.. Well I hope the move isn't too far!

Mind if I ask your thoughts on the Kessel LED????
Starting a tank but I'm not to sure about the directional lighting......
Also, what color spectrum did you get from them?

@ xiaoxiy thank you !!

@pandagobyguy honestly the kessil is a great light, its REALLY powerful. I have the sky blue but i think ocean blue would of been a better choice for me, i added a truelumen strip all blue and the color is significantly better. But this is because i use the a150 .. the new a160 will be controlable with the spectrum. Or you can just get the tuna blue which has the dimmer and spectrum controller. The par on this thing is a monster i honestly grow coral very fast. The new clove polyps that i posted sprouted 7 new heads... and they are considered a slow growing coral, i only have them about 2 weeks. everything is growing including my sps. So i would say yes to kessil, just make sure you know what you want.

Love the updates. I have the same tank myself and love it. It's been running for about 7 months now. I custom built a light stand for my AI Hydra 26 lights. Looking forward to seeing your corals grow.

I like the idea of that light stand .. i am actually considering changing out my kessil to something else. Not that there is anything wrong with the kessil, i just want to play around more with color options since my kessil is 10k.

Update:

Have not posted in a little while, have been busy. And when you're busy you sometimes run into problems. I was having a bit of a cyano outbreak so i picked up a new bag of chemipure and purigen. It seems to slowly be clearing up the problem. I am still running skimmerless and i think thats mainly the reason as to why im having cyano. I added two really nice yuma .. one of them is a lower end "rainbow" but its still really pretty, and a light green/blue variation.

my green acroporo decided it wanted to kick the bucket and started dying off for no apparent reason, but i was able to save about 10% of it at the base and it seems to be stable where it has potential to heal back up. it will probably take a while if i dont lose it completely but right now its just sitting in my frag rack.

I added a few small blue legged hermits, and they are kinda iffy with the algae. But i saw a third stomatella snail and that means that my two original snails bred successfully which is really cool, i hope my six line doesnt make it lunch. im also starting to see a little bit of coralline patches on the back of the acrylic and some of the plastic and rocks. My duncan has grew about 8 new baby heads and my clove polyps which were supposed to be super "slow" growers grew about 14 new polyps since i got it roughly a month ago.

will get some pictures up once the cyano clears up in a day or two.

That DIY light is the coolest and most bootleg thing I have ever seen in my life, and I made a fish spear out of a jigsaw blade and a 3 foot garden pole

Update:

So i got a little F*cked with two of my sps frags, my radioactive acro which i really liked and my forest fire digi, how you ask ? Vermetid snail webs....i didn't realize how sensitive these were to sps until they killed off both my frags so now i am hunting down all of them !

On another note i got some new frags.. a graf bonsai,a pink tip torch, got a freebie purple urkle chalice from a fellow reefer and a pink with blue tip millie mini colony.

I also picked up a female emerald crab in hopes of her getting rid of the bryopsis that i have on my zoas. along with a few extra hermits. I haven't taken any FTS but i snapped a few pics earlier with my phone. The color of my sps is a little dull , so i am trying to figure out how to color them up a bit more... anyone have any advise for me ?

So it seems that my tank may have been too clean, and for this reason the color of the corals was bad. I decided to do a test, since i had no kind of special coral feed i took some mysis and basically made a "paste" out of it turned off my return pump and sprayed it into the tank ... let it sit for about a half hour like that when lights were off. Then when i woke up and the lights came on i looked at the sps and the colors seem to be cming back and the polyps extension was crazy. The pink millie i got never showed any polyps and there were about 1/3 out which i never seen yet, the tips also appeared more blue which is awesome. I really want all my sps to color back up. I am debating on buying some coral frenzy or something like that to feed the tank occasionally.

Everything looks real nice, glad things are starting to color up for you!

Thank you !

i think i am going to buy some oyster feast, based on everyone swearing its good stuff. I think my lighting also contributes to the SO SO color. But i could be wrong.
