grocery store clams?

I know they are filter feeders and absorb nutrients from the water, but dont know if they would be of any help filtering my tank? sorry ney to all this, may sound dumb, but know I cant keep any light requiring clams under my pc's

I have 4 in the refugium, and 6 in the main tank.
They are little neck clams that I bought at Publix (Grocery Store)
The ones in the refugium are on bare glass...and you could see them open and close.
The ones in the main tank are buried. I have a 3.5 inch sand bed.
The only thing you see is a spurt of sand go up...as the clam clears sand from it's port.
It's been a month and they are doing well. No water chemistry change either.
