Group buy - critters

I am gauging interest in a group buy for snails, hermits and other beneficial creatures. Scott at aquarium oddballs has said he will be willing to do the ordering for us. I know I need a bunch of things so I thought I'd extend the offer to the club. Scott is doing some checking for me on prices and availability so I will have more info in the upcoming days. This will get brought up at the January meeting for those that aren't on RC. And I'll see if Travis will send out an e-mail with all the info as well.

I'd like to have everything Ready for order by the end of the first week in feb. and then have all items on hand for take home at the feb meeting. This should allow ample time for everyone to get in that wants and should help this go off rather smoothely.

Depending on interest of items some things may not be available at a discounted price. With this said lets try to keep things simple and not have special items such as limpets, conchs, nudis, cucumbers, etc etc.

These are rough details with more info to follow.

We normally try to do a group buy of somesort every year. last year it kinda got screwed up in the early goings and there wasnt much interest, or something.

There is still plenty of time left to get in on this deal. somewhere around a month so were not in panic mode, I figured by getting this put together a little early it would allow ample time for everyone who wanted to to get in on it.

Maybe everyone needs to pay up front before ordering? that would prevent the club from being stuck with a bunch of inventory. how much more of the RODI filters do we have? I could buy a few more just to keep in my stash. i guess you never know when you could have a filter go bad.

Please, keep this thread updated. I'm still cycling a new tank (actually, the chemistry side might be done, but the biological isn't), and I've got some personal things I'm waiting on. If the order hasn't been placed by the time this all sorts out and I get my tax returns back, I'll be in for a few things.

bump, we will talk about doing a group buy at this months meeting. an email will be sent out tonight to remind everybody thats interested. we need people to RSVP with a list of critters needed so we can organize the buy. you can either RSVP to me or another board member if you are interested in participating. This will be an order for BASIC CRITTERS ONLY!!! no conchs, cucumbers, etc. Things like crabs and snails only

I'll have details by the meeting. This welll be a pre pay only deal for current omas members only. I can't say the pricing yet but I highly doubt out it will be more than 50% off. Either way, it will be significantly cheaper than retail

I dropped the ball on this guys. Travis thanks for picking up my slack and keeping this going. I tried to get with Scott a couple of times and Either he was busy or I was busy and you know. Either way Its completely my fault. Nice work Travis and Thank you Scott at Oddballs for doing this for the club

Well since the both of you missed Saturday ....cough cough.. It looks like crabs and dove snails were what the people were wanting.I wouldn't mind having a few other varieties of snails as well but will take what is the most available to keep the costs down.
