Actually not a bad idea... I just want to grab a few fish and will definatly be in need of some frags at the swap.

If you are looking specifically for Reef Crystals salt, it seems to me like Hung had a really good deal on it the last time I was passing through. I don't remember the specifics but it seems like it was in the $30s.

By "$30s" it might literally have been $39.99. I just don't remember. But it was a good enough deal that if I hadn't of just ordered some, I would have bought from him to save the hassle. You might want to confirm the price with one of the locals to the area who is there more often than me. I am guessing that even if it isn't on his "specials" board anymore, he might still cut you a pretty good deal on it.

I am also a big fan of his $10 bucks for a dozen hermit crabs or snails. Another one of those things where the price is good enough that I don't feel like I am getting my pocket picked by supporting the local store (and it saves the hassle of ordering too).

Sure, I can do that Ryan and Ryan. Both Ryans email me what you want (jtesdall@mapcon.com) and your phone number so I have it in one place. I know the snails/crabs are always $10/12 but what do want for salt Ryan H? You used to use Oceanic, is RC OK? Is 39.99 still a good enough price? It would be about the same as ordering from DFS with shipping split I guess, maybe a few dollars more.

Reef crystals is what I'll be using from now on. I don't know that it has hurt anything, as the few corals I've lost I lost right after the move to Des Moines, but with oceanic my Ca is at 550 and alk at 3 meq. I've been using it for ages and haven't seen large problems, but I'm going to keep my parameters more in spec from now on, will only use oceanic for water changes when calcium is low.

Anyway, yeah, a bucket of reef crystals. If it's 40, that's fine. Much more than that and I'll just buy a couple from fosters smith. I'd like to support SOM though, so hopefully the price is right!

That's cool Joel. Any snails are better than the hardly any I have now. I was planning on ordering a bunch of stuff from Reef Scavengers when I set up my sump anyway too so they are just a stop-gap for now.

wow, this thread has changed direction... Only thing left following the original topic is 12 snails, but they are headed to Des Moines and not coming from Live Aquaria.. LOL

Actually if you were closer to DSM I would consider ordering with you. Sea of marvels didn't have what I wanted today. So if I am still looking around swap time I may go in with you. I really want a green mandarin. I think I may have found the clams I was looking for.
