Group Buy on Reef Nutrition

Do I hear Jake taking responability for growing out the first batch. Sounds good to me.

Hey jake didn't you want some tigger pods too?

No need for any sterile bottles for the RD3600 or RD. Your rotifers won't be sterile and I wouldn't advise trying to keep them sterile.

Currently no Macro-Feast, sorry.

One thing I would suggest is if you plan on buying rotifer cultures in hopes of splitting, etc, buy just 5m rotifers, a 5lb ClorAm-X, Liter of either RD and some rotifer floss. I find the rotifer floss really helps cut down waste in the rotifers and tends to allow for longer cultures (less prone to crashing).

GreshamH can you explain the floss a little better. Does it just drape in the bucket. I am confused. maybe I didn't look at the website close enough.

We use it two ways, but together. We make a stand pipe out of a plastic mesh with 1/4" opennings (gutter guard is fine) and wrap around 1/2 to 2/3 of the length of the standpipe with rotifer floss (centerred). Then we also weigh down one side and drape them equal to what we wrapped around the standpipe. This allows less obstruction of the water flow, less for the rotifers to bang into, but still allows the floss to collect the rotifer poo and algae flock.

For you guys I would say use 5g buckets filled about 3/4 full. Add a length of 1/4" rigid airline or normal airline with some heavier object to weigh it down. We use stainless steel parts we have laying around, Osh stainless steel nuts work great for this. Bring the 1/4" airline with you and find ones the fit snuggly around it. Add two bolts to the bottom of the floss and cut enough floss to allow the floss to be 2/3-3/4 of the depth of the bucket. Cut a few slits on the top of the floss and use airline to drape the floss across the middle of the bucket. Use enough air to create a gentle boil. You know what, instead of giving this to you like this, I'll whip up a quick and easy culture system with sizes, pictures, part numbers, etc. We do have some instructions, but nothing like what I want to do :)

I didn't make the meeting this month but I'd like to pitch in on the purchase also.
Can someone please share more information on rotifers? It sounds like a good investment. Is there a website?

Thanks
Taylor

Group buy

Guys,

I think things are getting a little confused. It looks like Jeff and Clay are posting the group orders. I've been pming Gresham and emailing Steve Ruddy to get their Wholesaler- Retailer relationship setup. it just happened yesterday. There's a couple other people that have said they want product and their not on Clay and Jeff's list.

Let's start over. I'm going to start a new thread. If you want something, post what you want and I'll order it for you. Reef Nutition ships Tues- Thurs every week. I plan on placing the order next week and will have it available for pickup next week in Santa Rosa. With your order specify what day is best for pick up and I'll have it avaiable on the day that works best for everyone.

Thanks Bob

Choose GROUND shipping if you order direct. no need for overnight charges since your only a 1-2 day transit :D

I'm not sure if there is a note section, but if there is put a note in there telling them to "See Gresham before closing shipment" so I can throw in a couple bottles of a new product we launched yesterday called Fuzzy Phytes. http://reefnutrition.com/fuzzyphytes/index.htm
