Group Buy: Refractometers

OK, just wanted to let you know I'm still following the thread, and have all these noted. And since someone asked, the buy closes on Sunday night the 17th, and I'll make the order on Monday morning, the 18th. My guess is that if everything went well, I might see a delivery by the 22nd (Friday) with the Xmas rush. If not, probably Tuesday the 26th.

I'll then ship your club's portion to Elite (thanks for volunteering) that week.

I'll get Paypal info out shortly.

count me in. 1 refracto and 2 calib solutions. i live in berkeley, and i can be a hub if people want to pick it up from the east bay.

sorry, no deliveries unless you live in berkeley or the closer side to berkeley in oakland or albany.

as soon as the paypal info is up, i will submit my payment.

thanks jwedehase!!!

Hmmm... I always calibrate with RO/DI water. Put some one it and "zero" the visual line. I don't think there is really any calibration beyond that, is there?
Actually, there is [to a saltwater standard] - because most hobby refractometers are not meant to measure seawater. [but can do a fine enough job ... but IMO best to calibrate to closer to our desired-endpoint vs. at the zero end of the scale]

Good idea to check both FW + seawater standard, lots of information about refractometers in Randy's new article here:

Pardon my interruption of a BAR thread :)

i'm also in berkeley, I have a few things to get from phong, maybe we can coordinate.

sounds dandy!

The sponsor agreed to drop ship directly to your club, but you'll still need to cover a shipping cost. This will save one delivery fee (so it doesn't have to go through me), and several days. Depending on how quickly it's shipped, it's possible you'll all see these by Christmas.

So... here are totals:

$1 to cover shipping
$2 to cover Paypal fees

Refractometer: $23 total each
Calibration Fluid alone: $4 each
Refractometer + fluid: $25.75 total each

Having totals, I'll start picking up Paypal payments now. Paypal address is jwedehase AT gmail.com.

PLEASE NOTE YOUR USER NAME, CLUB, AND ORDER IN THE NOTES SO I CAN KEEP TRACK OF WHO'S PAID.

Example: "$25.75 received. jwedehase/CVR/meter and fluid" or something.

I may not be able to keep up with every single verification once they come flooding in, but for now, I can verify Apon, tuberider, and jedininja. All are received, thank you.
