I know this was just done....

Checking to see if there is any interest in doing this again sometime soon?

Being that I will soon be moving into a larger tank (120 gallon) and currently having my 75 gallon free for a cleanup crew I have the demand.

Whats everyone think?

I could use just a couple things for my 12g, not a lot but depending on prices i'll jump in. I'd like a fire shrimp, and a few of those Electric Blue Hermit Crabs that I love at eddies. I'll also ask my father if he would like anything for his tank, I know he loves crabs and shrimp. I'll swing by and ask tomorrow.

It all depends on how much interest there is if we do it or not.

We can either do it through LFS like Swamp Bottom again or I can look into a couple places..

I'm interested in a mixture of snails.. Totalling 100-125

Some pepermint shrimp - 10

cleaner shrimp - 4

Blue leg hermits - 25

Try to go through Tony at SB.
If so, I'm up for 6 peppermint shrimp, 15 trochus snails, and 6 nassarius snails. Maybe a sea star if formia are on the list. Joe had to go out there last time and help bag. I'm willing to HELP if some others are up for it, and then do a saturday pickup at a common local.

Thinking of some hermits this time....you guys saw my tank, any reasons NOT to add any?

Also, some recommendations as to number and type appreciated.

Id swear sombody is eating my snails.....maybe the hermits

Well.....someone is eating/killing mine as well....alternatively, the astreas I got about a year ago have been simply dieing out...or maybe a combination of the two. Got maybe 20 left outa about 100.

I continue to hear "ticking" in my tank (mantis/pistol/?)....I've mentioned before that it is always JUST one tick every hour or so...not a "tick-tick-tick" that I've noticed with a mantis I once had, so I don't know what it could be....never seen him....he may be the culprit.

Wife serve escargot recently? :D
I may be ordering a few things from SB, if so and timing is right I can likely help bag the critters.

I would also swear my Blue leg hermits have killed several of my trochus snails. I have caught them in the act. They looked to be burrowing into the snail shell. The snail would shrival up, but i guess it was only a matter of time.

As for Doing the order through Swamp Bottom and bagging them up and meeting at a common place on Sat. thats fine. Things seemed to work well last time.

I'd have to try and get a hold of Tony. I left a message about the 120 RR I'm looking for and never got a return call. So i guess I'll try again.

Kris

Ps: I do not think it could be done as fast as this comming Sat. Not to mention thats the meeting day. Would could try for that, but everyone would have to act fast. Get a list together & have their money together.

So...............no hermits for trochus-containing tanks, or just no blue-legged ones?

I was thinking to get some, but that has been a concern.

No other suggestions hermit-wise?

I have only lost i would say Ummm around 4 out of 25 since the last order.. Its wierd, they don't even steal their shell. Is it just because they are hungry? The hermits have grown alittle in size. Not alot.

Hermits have a tendancy to kill snails and other hermits for the shells, and may not even like the shell so won't take it.

The blue legged hermits shouldn't be a problem with snails. If a snail is stuck upside down for a long time and is "on it's way out", the hermits will jump in and help the process. I don't believe they get very large so they should be relatively harmless otherwise. Now don't confuse these with the ELECTRIC-blue hermits from the Marshal Islands. These suckers are MEAN! I had one that would continually kill even the largest of my turbos (larger than golf ball size). Scarlets in my opinion are the best way to go. Out of the 5 that I got in my initial clean up crew over a year and a half ago, I still have 4. They are reportedly helpful in eliminating flatworms too.
