Do people sometimes do group buys to save on shipping? I've got an item or two that I might want from Liveaquaria.com or Saltwaterfish.com but not enough to get free shipping. I hope I'm not violating some kind of policy here. I read the Group Buy sticky and this seems to be ok. I'm a strong supporter of the LFSs in Rochester and have made purchases there but there are a couple items that aren't available there that I'm looking to acquire.

Not too long ago there was a group buy for bulkreefsupply. I didnt take part in it but i think it went over pretty well.

This is a good option. LFS prices are competitive and most will hold it a few days for you to make sure that it's healthy.

Depending on where you're located you might get one or two folks to go in on shipping with you. I've been tempted many a time to buy a frag or two on line but always shy away due to the fact that shipping can be more expensive that the livestock itself.
