group snail buy?

I am in need of some special types of snails that Z can only get in once in a blue moon (or never), and thus need to order some online.

Is anyone else interested in getting some snails from an online place? I was thinking either LiveAquaria, Marine Depot

...or, if anyone else has some suggestions.

Those sites have the harder to find ones I'm looking to get: Tongan Fighting Conchs, Nerite Snails, Banded Trochus Snails and Super/Jumbo Tongan Nasarius snails. I'd highly suggest getting some Tonga Nassarius Snails, they absolutely rock in my tank. They need to borrow in sand, and their shells are around 1", excellent sand bed cleaners (these are not the small ones we are used to seeing in Z).

tubro, astrea, margarita, cerith snails, nasarius (small ones), and queen conchs are easy enough to come by around here unless you want a huge bulk order.

or if there are other inverts (crabs, hermits, starfish, cucumbers etc) you all are interested in getting... let me know if you are interested.

I'm in if someone can hold then for a while till I'm in the area again...... I looked the other day and all I have left are 3 crabs.

3 crabs FREE to ANY home that will take the buggers!

well, does anyone have any preferences on where to order? what types of snails are you guys looking for?

the only reason i picked those two sites, is b/c of their selection of the harder to find snails i'm looking for. (click the links to see what they have)

but i'm open to suggestions. :)

You all may want to check out reeftopia.com as well Alex. I am pretty sure they have what you are looking for and I have heard some good things about them from some locals here in Charlotte.

Although I see now they dont have the Banded Trochus Snails and only regular nassarius..so it may not be worth it but the prices are good.

id prefer liveaquaria, ive gotten otherthings from them before.

im looking for a conch or two and a coupe of tonga nessaurious snails

Reeftopia is good. I've ordered from them several times and everything arrived alive. The prices are pretty good too with shipping included.

i wish they had the snails i was looking for though. any chance you can get trochus, nerite, tongan fighting conch, and tongan nassarius snails through one of your suppliers, HOC?

I have had good results with Live Aquaria - and once when I got a stressed out sea cucumber (as a part of their cleaning crew package) which did not make it, they refunded the money without question. I chose to keep it as store credit and they applied it the next time I got something from them, some six months later, even though I never mentioned it.

i've also had good results with liveaquaria. they are out of trochus snails at the moment, so i clicked on the button to email me when they come in stock.

i really like the trochus snails, the shell looks just like astreas except they seam tougher (dont always have to be rescued from falling on their backs, have a much tighter grip so i've never really seen them fall), and have the apetite of a mexican turbo but without being as large and knocking everything over. they are a bit larger though than your average astrea you get from Z.

I have no personal experience with this business, but Pacific East Aquaculture in Maryland carries both the Tongan Nassarius (as jumbo nassarius) and the Trochus. However it looks like you can only get the Trochus as part of a package. Perhaps you could call/email them and see if they will allow you to have the Trochus as part of a larger buy.

thanks tetra-tag, i noticed that also, which is why i didnt bring them up. they also dont have nerite snails, and seem to be a little more expensive than liveaquaria. shipping is also more expensive, $39 flat rate plus $10 box fee.

well, it looks like liveaqauria is basically out of stock of just about EVERYTHING, who knows when they will have everything in stock at the same time. i sent jonathan at ZQ an email, hopefully they can get some snails in soon.
