Thanks. I looked into that originally and once you start reading instead of just looking at pics it seems to have green on front of body in most cases. Mine is just the opposite, only green in on tail. btw one "common name" is red grouper lol.
I got that close to id with a grouper too which is why I was leaning in that direction. Few of the dottys get to be this big but you are definately on track with the labracinus. maybe Labracinus melanotaenia but again usually striped on body. Thanks for the help

It could be Ogilbyina novaehollandiae aussie multicolor dottyback or Labracinus lineatus but it really seems to be Labracinus cyclophthalmus

Any issues with eating smaller fish, shrimp etc.? I'm a little worried about putting anything in that would fit in his mouth...lol. He's super friendly and eats out of my hand, but if I go too long without feeding I have to count my fingers when I'm done. NO problems with any of the corals though. What has your experience been?

Sorry i did not check back in on this thread. My friend broke down his tank and gave me some fish and coral at one point. A good 2" cleaner shrimp that was near DOA was no problem as far as getting devoured goes. Seeing as the fish was only 5" and slender with a moderate mouth size it was a graphic sight haha. Swam around holding it by its tail bashing it into pieces off rocks. Also had no problems chasing a bt trigger bigger than himself out of the tank at one point. I would look at maybe a huma trigger as a tank mate. Similar size different niche, can hold its own. I highly suggest a tank divider and mirror as well as new fish are added.
