Growing mangroves in 36" high display

What is everyone's opinion of putting mangroves in a 36" high tank? I think I've finally got my tank aquascaped the way I like it. Rock piled on each side in a "trench" style with a big opening in the middle of the tank. I was thinking that mangroves might look cool right in the middle having them grow to the surface and keep them trimmed back since my tank is so tall.

I am running just VHO lighting (4 VHO's on ICE CAP 660), would this be sufficient? I don't know much about mangroves nor their care/requirements.

Mangroves sound great but you have to remember this, although you can trim the plant back above the water as it grows. The roots will eventually grow so large that they can burst through the aquarium. Im not sure if you can trim the roots as well maybe someone will chime in on that.

I know they look cool, but they need to have the leaves out of the water. And yes the roots will eventually break the tank. The roots will grow thru and around the rock, which will make removal practically impossible. Put it in a container in your sump. That is where mine is. Here is a picture taken several months back.
