Grown Out Baby Bellus

Hey Guys,

Had a nice story I thought I would share. Back at the end of 2011 I picked up a mature pair of Bellus Angels. They were full grown. They for the most part are independent fish, and sometimes the male will follow the female around the tank.

At the end of June 2012 I came across a tiny (3/4") Bellus. I love tiny fish and had to take a chance with the fish.

Here you can see the baby acclimating in the bucket with a neon goby and some lubbocks wrasse.

The tiny fish went into the tank and was ignored by the rest of the tank population - The tank at that point in time had over 65 fish in it. While the Bellus wasn't the smallest fish (lots of blennies and gobies). There are lots of damsels, tangs and other angels that were much larger than the baby

So now jump forward 9.5 months and my baby is not such a tiny fish anymore. And I have to study which of the two females is which. There is no harem swimming going on and for the most part the three Bellus are independent fish.

So on Saturday evening I had some people over to look at the tank, Scott Fellman and Jake Adams. While we were relaxing on the couch talking shop we watched the Male Bellus and the Young Female Spawn. It was amazing that we happened to catch it. It was 3 hours before lights out, and we had been standing in front of the tank pointing stuff out right before it happened.

Not to mention that currently there are over 110 fish in the tank, so they didn't have much privacy.
