Growout skimmers

ASM G5 on 375 gallons but that's just because it came my way.
Here is my honest opinion, you don't need a skimmer but it is beneficial. Any skimmer is better than no skimmer and you are not going to "over skim" a F/O growout system. Having said that, just get the best possible skimmer you can afford and be happy with it. It is generally agreed that the ASM line is about the best value out there, not necesarily the best skimmer but it pulls out the most yuk for your buck
If you are handy you can build a really nice one for about $120 using a 5 gal Sparklets bottle and two gen-X 2400 needle wheel pumps. My buddy has made two so far, there is thread in the DIY forum here. It's probably comparable to a G3 or G4 for much less than half the price
