Growth rate ??

One thing I haven't gotten a grasp on after years of reading here is Growth rate. "It grows like a weed", "Its a slow grower", and many other terms like them are all over the place, but what do they mean? I understand each coral is different, each system is different and each person has their own definition on growth rate. Are there numbers {in general} that can be applied to these terms?

well for me the hotter the water the faster the growth, i really cant say a mesurement, all i can say that in a year some corals went from 1" to a softball size colonies and others from 1" to 2-3" wide colonies....
