GRRR...Aqua C Remora S ?

When I first started using it everything was perfect. No problems at all. It was a little loud (no big deal) but was working great. Now the thing is spitting tons of microbubbles out of the side where the water flows back into the tank. It's almost as if it's making too many bubbles and instead of going up the chamber into the collection cup, it's releasing them back into the tank. Then the bubbles pop and I'm getting salt creep everywhere. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this problem or any ideas on why it might be doing this?

I sent AquaC an email this morning to let them know that I am a disappointed with their product. We'll see what they have to say.

Im having the same issue i think it is just poor design

I found that making the return water run threw a sponge reduces the bubbles but wont eliminate them

Good luck

I tried that last night. I stuck an Aquaclear sponge down into the chamber but micro bubbles still escaped.

I did some research this morning after emailing AquaC and found a lot of people are having the same problem. The solution seems to be using a pre-skimmer box to catch the bubbles so they don't get back in the aquarium. I went ahead and ordered one. I spent $200 on this protein skimmer and have only used it for a week so I'd hate to get rid of it without trying to find a solution first.

the box aka bubble trap only works partially in my experience the sponge im using is external i have it wedged under the output of the skimmer down into the water my skimmer is in my sump well before bubble trap and i still have micro bubbles

either way i plan on upgrading skimmer very soon especially since my upgrade to a 120g tank

Issue resolved. It seems that it was the clamps on the intake hose that had loosened up and air was getting into the skimmer. I also put the Remora pre-skimmer box on it and everything is back to working like normal. A good amount of foam is starting to come up through the collection cup cylinder and there are no more micro bubbles!

On a side note, Jason at AquaC was very helpful at giving me some advice on how to address this issue. He responded to my emails promptly and I was able to get things fixed right away.
