I had a GSM for almost 3 yrs and got her a mate just about 2 yrs ago. They paired up quick buy the next day. Well yesterday we noticed that the Hubby was laying on his side down at the bottom of the tank. Went to the LFS got some meds they that recommended. Said its blatter was probably bloated. Well this morning i woke up and 2 hermits and a narrisus snail was eating him. Guess he didnt have the straight to pull thru even with the meds given last night. Now my question is Will she be sad and stress with her mate being gone? She looks like she is looking for him around the tank. Should we try right away to get another. They where showing signs that they where going to mate.

I had a GSM pair that were wild caught together. The male made a trip down into the sump and found the pump. I later bought a second male and they paired. They share there larger RBTA and are rarely separate. The new pair has been together about a year. I don't remember how long before I bought the second male. The timing was more about my convenience than her grieving. I have a guard on the over flow now.
