GSM Pair

I ordered a GSM pair from an online retailer (not an RC sponsor). Anyway, they arrived in 2 separate bags which I thought was odd. I acclimated them to the tank, and I noticed some aggression but nothing serious. So I thought they would be ok. But then today I came home and found the smaller of the two laying on the sand upside down. This retailer offers a 14 day guarantee, but of course, the fine print excludes fish killed by other fish. My thing is, I ordered them as a pair.

Do you think they should refund my money on their guarantee?
Do you think the two clowns were ever really a pair?
Or did they just label them that way to make a sale?

I guess moral to the story, even when you think you're buying a pair, you just never know with maroon clowns.

If you ordered as a pair, then they should refund you. They probably not a pair to begin with. LFS do this a lot. They match a larger to a small fish and hope they will be compatible.

Well, playing the devil's advocate - do you have any proof that the smaller one was killed by the larger, or could it have been shipping stress or something else that killed it?

Nothing other than my observations. No signs of disease. No other fish in the tank.

Moot point though. The retailer emailed me back after a few hours. They're re-funding me for 1/2 the price. Guess I don't have to take them out of my bookmarks afterall. The somewhat bright side is that the remaining female is the best looking one I've ever had. That nice deep maroon color and not the lighter shades of red I've seen on some, and she already has her gold stripes. But I am going to completely give up on ever having a pair.
