My husband loves gold striped maroons. Since he doesn't take too much of an interest in my hobby, I'd love to get something for our living room tank that he'll really enjoy (I'll get him hooked, it's just a matter of time)
I was at an LFS today that had a few beautiful GSMs, but they weren't for sale. They're getting a shipment of ~1.5" maroons in at the end of the month, and I'm strongly considering buying a pair but I don't want to throw things off in my tank hierarchy or end up with little murderers that I have to return.
I've seen many posts where people say their GSMs are actually pretty sweet-natured, is this the norm? We used to keep a pair of saddles in this tank and they terrorized their tankmates to the point where we bought them their own tank! I certainly don't want to go through that again. I also want to make sure that if we got two small (1.5" or so) maroons they'd pair up; I know they're not nearly as easy to pair as other clowns.
The GSMs would be going into a 65g tank with a (2") flagfin, CB & flame angel, a devil damsel, a fourstripe damsel, a sixine, a neon dottyback and a pixy hawkfish. I have a feeling these would be wc, so they'd get a lengthy quarantine first. The tank is primarily FOWLR, but I've added some (okay, lots, it's growing like mad in the other tanks) Xenia and GSP, both of which might make a nice substitute host for a pair of clowns.
