GSP Color Variations

I've had some GSP in my tank for a while and although it's not bleaching or anything, it's definitely lighter than the newer strand a buddy gave me yesterday. Is it because of my tank or can GSP actually vary in color some? All the GSP I've seen in people's tanks have been the same color.

I've seen quite a few different shades of green for GSP. From a deep almost muddy green to damn near fluorescent green. Lighting plays a part too but they are easily not all the same.

Yup. I have a teal color one and a neon green one. Both on the same tank with the same parameters. Just two different colors of the same species.

+1 on the lighting. When I had VHO's the bulbs were arranged from front to back 50/50, actinic, 50/50, actinic. The GSP towards the back of the tank would look much different than the ones that were placed in the center of the tank. These were the same GSP too.

I have 3 different frags of GSP in the same tank, roughly 6 inches away from each other and they all are different shades of green. Its rather cool IMO. I'll definitely buy more as they come up just to try to get some more color variations ;)

Please be careful with this coral and place it on a rock by itself. It will take over your tank if you don't. See below the one I have in my tank.

When I first got it for free from my LFS because it was "Dying" on Aug 14, 2013. (1" frag disk)

Now. This rock is about 12" long and it covers it from end to end.

i have 2 different greens in my tank; ones a darker green and a light GSP in my tank... ive also heard they grow like weeds and they are currently taking over the back wall

I have 2 types of GSP. I have the typical electric green with long tentacles and grows crazy fast. I also just realized facing the back of the tank i have a metallic bluish GSP which is much shorter and doesn't grow as fast. Also the base isn't as much as a purple
