GSP on sanbed

If I was going to add a frag of GSP's to my tank and want it to grow on my sand bed, would just sit the mat/frag of GSP's on the sand and let it attach on it's own?

TIA

I have a small piece on the sandbed and it hasn't grow a bit. The one on the back of the tank grows fast.

I had my little frag on the sand bed and put it near another rock. Shouldn't have done that. It has tripled in size in 2 months and has started growing up on the adjacent rock.

Hopefully it won't take over my tank and over run all my other coral.

I'll be sure to keep an eye on my gsp's if they fair well then!
Something just came to mind however. Has anyone had any problems with amphipods munching on any of their corals? Zoas, softies, etc?

Are the pods actually munching on the corals, or are they eating detritus that's settled there?

They might eat dead tissue if the coral hasn't been doing well.

Current Tanks: 35 gallon, 40 lbs live Fiji, 45 lbs live sand, clump of chaeto; one firefish, 2 A.Ocellaris, 3 red legged hermits, 4 Nassarius, 1 peppermint; 1 colt; CPR BAK-PAK, Marineland C-160 canister, 2x 50/50 36W PC
What are the dimensions on your tank? 2x36w 50/50 might be on the low side for gsp.

my tank is 36 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 16.75 inches tall. But measuring from the top of the sandbed to the top of the tank the height measures about 14.5 inches.

I'm not going to start a debate here, but from experience and seeing it my self late at night with a red light... Large Ampipods
( don't know exactly what species ) have been known or seen eating up zoo's or palys... I've lost a hand full of colonies to these little buggers... ( and no it wasn't lost due to fungus/zoa pox/ other hitchhickers ).... even brand new healthy colonies that were just put in the tank were all chewed up with in a few weeks.

crud; okay well thanks for sharing your luck (or the latter) with me. =P

Do you think gsp's will do okay in my tank? my tank is 36 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 16.75 inches tall. But measuring from the top of the sand bed to the top of the tank the height measures about 14.5 inches.
