GSP rock dying....

Hello all, I bought a large GSP rock a couple months ago that looked a little rough and haven't been able to bring it back to health. I woke up this morning and it's starting to get some large white areas at the top of the rock. I've been considering getting rid of it for weeks but my problem is... when I bought the rock my tank blew up with life. Amphipods, copepods, brittle stars, micro stars... all sorts of goodies. My other pieces of live rock have taken on a lot of these but the majority has clung to the dying GSP rock. I don't want to take it out and lose the small critters that are clinging to it but it's beginning to be an eye sore and I'm concerned about it polluting my tank. Everything else coral wise is doing well along with another small GSP rock. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cant Really see much by that image.. usually gsp will grow anywhere. Try maybe moving it to another spot in the tank...

I apologize about the image. It's the filter on my iPad. I have a 40 gallon tank and the rock in question is about 5 lbs. I've moved it from high to low flow. It had a little algae at one point and it was taken care of. Again, the other GSP rock is doing very well. I'll post a picture.

I have some GSP in my 90g and one side of my LED lights went out, so it remained dark for over a month - the GSP retracted and turned white with no polyps - looked dead, but the coral's mantle stayed attached to the rock. Once I got a replacement light, it started growing again- tiny white polyps started emerging and growing. It is really tough to kill, so get it in some decent light and it will probably come back.

That stuff can grow in a 5 gallon bucket with a Coleman lantern, it should be fine.

I'm running an AI prime for lighting so lights shouldn't be the problem.

Please list your water parameters and lighting schedule

Your water parameters should resemble mine in my sig line: test all those things (Salifert will give you good results) and adjust with supplements.

Here is the lighting schedule. I usually have my lfs test my water. I'll be getting a test kit soon. They usually just test the basics like nitrates nitrites ammonia and ph.

I wouldn't stress over it too much. Keep your parameters In check and it will be fine. I have some in my tank that sat out of water for over a month and is now becoming a neusance.
