Hey guys,

My pulsing Xenia grew over towards my Green Star Polip and just touched the edge. I pulled the Xenia out but my GSP has been closed for 2 days. Any thoughts? Anything I can do to help it?

Thanks.

GSP's will react very sensitively, i.e., get mad and stay mad for a day or three. Very normal; they should open up within three or four days. However, chemical warfare between species can be a root of the problem, along with other general water quality issues. When they crash, a whole colony tends to go at once.

If you can move rocks to separate the two, that would be better. They're both capable of really taking a tank, wall to wall. Kind of ironic that they don't like each other. What you can do to better the situation is to run some carbon in your system: that absorbs the coral 'spit' that softies put out when they're upset, and calms things down.
