Gyre making noise

Sounds kinda like mine.

I bought a XF-130 about 6-weeks ago and it was deadly silent. Then after 3-weeks the controller started acting up (pulse mode stopped working) so I ordered a new one with the intent to return the defective unit after the new one arrived. As soon as I installed the new one I could hear a humming sound coming from it. I figured it's because it's new. But then I connected my first pump, which was silent before, to the new controller and I was getting the same humming sound. As weird as it may sound, it appeared the controller was making it sound louder even though I had it at the same settings as the previous one.

If I turn the pump down to half, the sound goes away. It doesn't seem to be able to handle the power. My other one is almost at full and is dead silent.

Yeap, that's how mine was too. Using the first controller and pump at 100% no sound. New controller and new pump at 70% I hear humming. It's like I dropped my iPhone in the tank on vibrate mode.

I had the 130 on my old tank and have a 150 on my new one. Both make a noticeable hum on some of the higher settings.

Have two 150's. No noise one hum. Been up for 2 months. Running gyre mode 80/60. 5min swing. Call customer support. They probably can recommend good solution.

It sounds like the controller is going. I would call CoralVue. They were really awesome when I had problems with my 150. They first thought it was the motor, so no questions they sent a motor. Then when that wasn't the problem, they sent a new controller no questions. I feel once they are running correctly, they are bada$$.

Just changed out my old style props for the new rugged ones and now it is making a weird noise. Took it apart a few times to figure out the issue but can't find anything. It sounds like my vortech pump when the magnet isn't aligned right. I have it on pulse mode and you can only hear it when the motor goes into idle before ramping back up.

Turned it to reverse flow and it makes no noise.

I have 2 running for almost a year no noise and love them. Contact coralvue, they have great customer service. You may also want to try soaking them in vinegar for a bit, maybe they just have a little build up on them.

soaking them in vinegar is your best bet

I too have been having gyre issues, long story short the pump (which is good) is let down by shoddy Chinese build quality and components, I also struggled to find someone who could sell me spares which is a real bug bear of mine.
So.....
I have cut my losses and am moving onto Vortech.

try the ceramic insert in the end cage bushing. Mine got so bad it stopped spinning. found a new bushing and it worked again.

My 130 has been ok for 18 months but ate its blade shafts last week.
Purchased new blades, the new design and now can't turn power above 40% as the noise is simply unbearable.
