Gyre

Fish?
I posted this in my new tank thread and either no one saw it or didn't have the answer, so I will now post here in hope of finding an answer.

#1. Why can't the search function on here find anything on 'gyres'? It asks if I meant to search for 'gore'. Cause I can see how a search oon RC for GORE is much more educational than a search for GYRE.

Anyway, I would like to create a Gyre. If I remember correctly, that basically mean that water is circulating in a clockwise motion whether it is east to west or north to south. I would like mine to go north to south meaning flow moving in one dirrection in the upper water colum and flow moving in the opposite dirrection in the lower (sand) colum. With the use of my current returns and some added powerheads, what is the best way to go about doing this? Here is a picture/diagram of my return/power heads now. Any advice on where to point them or where to add more?

based on where your overflow and rock stack is located I would try to acheive a clockwise to counterclockwise gyre in this aquarium. You could use powerheads on wavemaker. Returns could acheive the same effect if an 'Ocean Motion' device is used.

Even better yet would be two MP40's or 20's (one at each side of the aquarium. I realize this last suggestion is a very expensive option.)

Keep in mind it's always a good idea to have two water circulating systems in an aquarium as a failsafe. In other words, if the main pump dies you want something else to keep water circulating in the aquarium.
