Gyre

This is a great thread.

We have a standard 75 gallon tank that we are just getting going. We are trying to decide between the below options for flow.
This is our first reef so trying to see if we can get it right, but also be reasonable.

Any thoughts on the below options?

1 x MP40
2 x MP10
1 x Gyre XF230
2 x Gyre XF230
I have a 75 with just one 130 and it's great at just 30% on pulse. I had one MP10 at the other end but the flow was so weak, I removed it. I doubt 2 MP10s would be any better.

One thing I like is the ability to give my fishes a workout. Damsels aren't far-swimmers like tangs, but they are constantly active, and with the gyre they get in the current and dive and bob as you see them do in the ocean. Makes a pretty action, and the fish seem to like it, too. When I had only the small units, the big domino used to hang right near them at night as if she wanted to suck up all the water movement she could. I began to worry about oxygenation, even given a decent skimmer and Iwaki pump and 2 water-movers. Now she's happy in her cave at night.
