H. hippopus. Where are they?

I use to have a beautiful hippopus. I've been looking for one for over a year now, but have not seen any for sale. Two to three years ago, they seemed to be common and no to pricey ($20 for a 4"). Anybody know why they are not so common now? And have you seen any for sale?

i just looked at that link, they are out of stock. that site gives an accurate discription of hippopus but the photo they provide is of a gigas

Thanks for the links. I've been watching clamsdirect for a long time, with no luck. There are several sites that list hippopus, but they are all out of stock.

I've been looking for a hippopus myself, I have one/two each of all the others

I see that ORA has aquacultured specimens for sale. It appears to even have the correct picture too . It may be that you can contact one of their retail customers to make a special order. Best of luck.

Have you tried emailling requesting one? In suspect he could get his hands on them, but the demand is fairly low.
