I have 3 different types of anemones in my 55 gallon. A blue S. Haddoni, a RBTA and a purple tipped H. Crispa. All doing great in my tank.

but I'm not really worried about that, because if all other things go well, soon it will regain its zooxanthellae as other one have

I'm more concerned if its going to make it, how its going to affect other one I have (so far so good, both of them fully open, I just fed them, new one eats like pig, sticky, no pedal disk injuries and all other good signs) and if its going to stay put.. remains to be seen..

I'll se how it goes... gotta love that red foot, , if all goes well I just might trash corals for good and go fishing for purple one..

I was thinking of putting some skunks in to help it settle and so, I already have spawning percs inside...should I expect some aggression toward the newcomers? sonofgaladriel, whats yours experience?

Even with three magnificas in a 120 I could not add any more adult clowns with my spawning skunks.
They are tolerating a juvi occilerous (I will never learn how to spell that) now, but just barely. he is in one of the anemones at night and is picked on a bit and not allowed in the anemone during the day. Best thing to try would be baby skunks as small as you can get. the adults won't be able to find them in the anemone, but don't add them without a qt.

i might do that, first I'll give it a week or two to see how it goes.. Its way to early to say anything real, but so far so good.. Its attached to rockscape, its still on same spot where I placed it and fully inflated. Greedily accepts food, Upcoming days I'll be keeping my tank illuminated bit longer and feeding it heavily to let it know that this is a right place to be.. On the other hand my established anemone doing good as well, I don't see no signs of irritation or stress caused by newcomer so hopefully thats going to stay that way.. BTW Cindy, these 3 mags of yours... Two are the the sister clones and third one is from a different source, right? Do they ever touch eachothers and if they do is there any irritation, competition or anything funny I should be concerned about?

I think that 10 to 12 baby ocellaris would look great in there, or maybe the same number of pink and orange skunks.

Wow Jadran - sorry for the offtopic question guys but I just have to ask - how big is that clam? Is it just the camera angle, or is that thing just huge? It looks like it takes up a considerable portion of the left side of your 120g..

Very cool pics BTW. I see both anemones have a really nice coloured base.

Do you have your Tunzes on a multicontroller? I have my two 6100's on a multicontroller tuned so that they alternate directions of flow about every 10 seconds or so (to try to mimic a wave action). Only thing is in a cube it's not as easy as I would like because you get a reaction flow pretty much instantaneously. I might replace the Tunze's with some Seios and then use powerheads on a wavemaker instead. Unfortunately in a 30" tank a Wavebox isn't an option, which I think would look really cool in a H. magnifica species tank.

thats my priced maxy, honestly I never saw any much bigger than that (and I've seen few.. ) I don't think they grow much bigger, most certainly not as big as they say in the books.. Squamosa's yes but maxys .. thats about that... Dunno how big it is, 7 months ago I took this pic when I had to move it and cut its bysuss.., you can also compare its size with streamers.. thats one nice maxima.. color pattern as well.. ..

yes, these streamers are connected to multicontr. had some difficulties with setting the flow right, but now it's done and works like charm, ..

Oh yes wavebox rules.. but unfortunately my tank is no good for it neither, gotta have centered overflow and so.. .. maybe on my next setup.. Oh boy this tool moves water really naturally ....combined with streamers.. ufff...

btw. did you heard of the tunze nanostreamers? maybe they would do for your setup.. 7cm each.. speed controllable.. you can connect it to multicontr... They'll be out on market in January, they say..

I did not see any aggression between the anemones, but it could just be that there were no outward signs of the battles.

I decided to separate them and am trying to figure out a way to make attractive natural looking pedestals for them that will give ample footing surface on the top, and a skinny column so that all of my fish have more swimming room below. I am using glass vases as a temporary fix.

FWIW: Mario's new H. magnifica may not be that bleached. The red based color morph very often has very light colored tentacles in the wild.

Here are pics of my H.magnifica.

Pics were taken in Aug of this year. The anemone is about 8-9 inches in diameter and I've had it for about 9 months. Just got a second one (same coloration) that is a little larger, (about 10 inches in diameter), and still acclimating to my system.
I'm currently in the process of setting up a 120 gallon tank for them.

I'm really envious of those of you with brightly colored H.magnifica anemones. Its tough to find a healthy one here in the Midwest period, let alone a brightly colored one.

Here's another example of a red column morph. The tentacles will color up from white to yellow in the right environment. Gone but not forgotten, here's a pic taken when I first introduced mine.

And another pic of the same anemone several months later after being maintained directly under a 250w Iwasaki 6500k MH lamp with regular feedings.

awesome shots, Gary. Thats exactly the same coloring as in my established one, only difference is that mine was way more bleached when I got it...

Day 4. It's still all good. Both of them fully inflated, both of them put... However there are signs of some chemical activity, dunno whats going on exactly but my Lobo- brain coral looks all busted and stuff.. I assume its irritated by chems or waste released by newcomer.. I prepared also 60g of sw and changing about 10% of the tank size daily... we'll se how it goes.. I think it looks like little improving ...
