H. magnifica spawning events

I am helping with an article on the spawning of Heteractis magnifica in captivity (and the wild). I know there are a few people that have had this happen at least once in captivity, so I need your help. PM me if you can provide me with information.

Thanks

Ah, yes :) Thanks for bringing that thread back. I wish the article was on H. crispa spawning (even though that has already been done, mine had been spawning many years before this species was even documented to do so in the wild), but it is not :(. I remember someone having a purple based H. magnifica specimen that did indeed spawn in his/her tank. Just don't remember where or when I saw it.

I have a yellow H. magnifica which has spawned on several occasions. I'm not sure what info you're looking for though, but if you have any questions I could try to answer, feel free to PM me.

Please dont leave this information to Private Messages. I would like to see the questions and the answers. I have had a ritteri anemone for 13 years, and I dont believe I have ever seen it spawn. I have seen it expell some gooey substance a few times from its mouth........could that be sperm or eggs??
I know the anemone is happy because it has tripled in size since I got it, and now when fully expanded it is over 26 inches across and about 16 tall or more. I also have some rose bta's that split regularly in the same tank. From my experiences so far, ritteri's dont split like bta's.

I meant more along the lines of feel free to get in touch with me, sorry. I'm no "expert" though so keep that in mind. I've just had the anemone for a little over 5 years, just having the thing in a tank though doesn't make me any more or less knowledgeable than others per se, just have my own experiences to recount.

That gooey substance may have been a spawn.. generally speaking though you'll know if it's a spawn as the tank will become one large cloudy mess and there is .. how can I say this.. a rather distinctive smell that goes along with it. The spawning events in my tank have almost always coincided with an equinox or a solstice. Which may or may not be a coincidence, but something I've noted that if it's happened, it's always been within a week, or maybe two weeks of either. I think for the most part, more events were around solstices.

As for splitting, some do split, some don't. Mine has never split.
