Had a little flood

STACKER

Man.... My sump crock float crapped out yesterday and I got an inch of water in the basement. Trashed the carpet/pad, and most of the woodwork. The tank is sitting on a soggy pad and the whole thing will likely have to be torn down, moved, then replaced and reset.

Maybe this wil be an excuse to upgrade some systems....

Karma eh? I've had a mercury switch and a mechanical switch go out over the past 5 years. First time was during 3 days of rain and we got almost 4" of water. This time I was kinda lucky... I'm insured for it (pay the extra $50/yr for the endorsement) and it didn't ruin anything electrical.

I may need to have you babysit some reef critters for me ..... I have a feeling I'll be forced to tear down my tank to get the floor recarpeted or beauty stoned.... Not Fun!

I'm sure I can find some room somewhere. I need to get rid (small fee) of a bunch of coral and someone to help frag. Torch, Frogspawn, Hammer, Cynarina, Xenia, star polyps, zoos, mushrooms, etc, etc. Things are just growing too fast.

I want a frag of your purple and green frogspawn to offset my green and purple one. I'm trying to avoid most of the rest.

I meet the insurance guy today after lunch to see what they will cover. Hopefully they'll cover my clean-up labor, replacement flooring (we're thinking about beautistone or naturestone rather than carpet this time) damaged paneling and molding, and labor to move the tank. I looked into a backup system for the sump. 2 pumps (one 115 VAC and one 12 VDC w/ battery backup) using 3 floats. The standard pump uses a lever float with backup mounted above an a secondary uses a hanging float. one is submerged and the second is mounted above. It's not cheap but it's less than my deductible....

Eww, flooding is never good, especially when it comes to saltwater aquariums. Well Im busy as Hell right about now but let me know if you need any help Dale, Ill do whatever I can to be available.

While I have been away from my keyboard, I did have some time to take care of my tank, I had a monster cyano bloom after adding some liverock and I finally have it on the run.

Insurance guy came, looked around, took come pix, looked some more. Asked me how the hell I was gonna move the tank to ge the floor re-carpeted. I told him he was paying for it.... He cut me a check before he left. Now all I have to do is tear down and move the tank contents to the new tub setup and firure out how to salvage as much as possible. this will noit be fun and I hav eto have it accomplished by early next week when the new carpet is to be installed.

I'll handle it... I stopped at westside beverage and got a case of Yuengling Porter, a keg of Yuengling Amber Lager, and a 28 pack of Molson XXX, add in some hot wings and Hanenero Dorito's and I'm in there!

Anyone want to donate any arag? I'm gonna toss the bulk of my sand *I'll siphon out the top 2" then throw the rest away. I'll need prolly 200 lb. to reestablish my MSB. Dammit!

I definately will. We just got a case of Malbec and a keg of Yuengling to keep form dehydrating while working. The carpet installer is coming this afternoon to measure so I'll assume I have to have the tank down and moved by Tue. or Wed.

I guess I'll have to build my new canopy and get all the re-plumbing done too. Might be a good time to drill for standpipe, returns and closed loop while I'm at it too.

So little time... so little patience.. so little money.... :)

wow that pretty much sucks bad... but look at it this way now we can have a weekend filled with stand and canopy building it works for me

I should find out today when they plan to install the new carpet so I'm basically limited to that schedule. I'll be finishing the stock tank today and it will be ready for all of my stock soon.

Have no fear small grasshopper... We have beer, wine, BBQ and decades of practical experience. You do know what experience is doncha?

I wired up my MH ballasts tonite only to find out that the 10K lamp IK just got off ebay is a nogo.. the 14 fired up fine... Looks like I'll give 'em a chance to replace it before I can move forward.

Stock tank will be running tomorrow and I'll also pay for the new carpet and get in the list. I see a tank moving party in my near future. Too bad you can't make it... :)

well i can't help you physically but if you need anything for the tank let me know, I could probably get it to you cheaper than you could find it around there. goodluck

Thx, I'll keep that in mind. Actually between Ryan, Paul, and I the stock tank is fully outfitted. I even have 2 skimmers to molest and make one beastie from.

I'm making a flange today in the shop to complete a home made bulkhead fitting and the stock tank will be ready to run tonite.

I'm trying to hook-up a couple of free sheets of oak plywood and will build a new canopy for the display. the Ebay seller I got the MH lamps from is replacing the 10K that refuses to start so I'll be good to go restarting. Desinately considering a complete replumb (drill that tank, add durso, and returns while it's down... Then again, it works so why muck it up? Bling ain't my thing!
