Haddoni Carpet

So, I was planning on buying a carpet nem in a couple of weeks, but a few days ago one came up on craigslist and I ended up getting it for a couple of extra frags. So, I couldn't pass that up! :p He is about 12 inches in diameter.

He was in great health when I got him and he was doing well in my tank the whole night and next day after I put him in, but a couple days ago he moved in between some rocks and the side of my tank and he's not getting very much light at all anymore. I was hopping after a couple days, with no feeding and not a whole lot of light, he would just move somewhere else but that hasn't been the case!

What (if anything) should i do, or should I just wait for him to move himself? I'm not sure how long I want him to be in there with very little light.

Here is a picture of him. I had to bring the exposure on my camera way up to actually see him. So, it's actually quite darker than the picture makes it seem.

EDIT: Thought I would add my tank specs/params to this as well.

Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0
Amonia: 0
PH 8.2

75g DT, 20g fuge, 30g sump
Lighting: 2x250w 14k MH

He was under 3x250w MH in a longer tank so i didn't think it would be a huge change.

Thanks!

How much flow do you have in there? (( they aren't fans of high/direct flow ))
How deep is your sandbed? It looks very very shallow -- they are sandbed anemones.

I put him in the lowest flow spot and the sand there was about 3 inches but he moved into a spot with maybe an inch of sand.

Carpet Anem?

Carpet Anem?

What is your salinity? How long has your tank been set up? Do you have any other nem's in the same tank?:strange:

It's about 1.25 but i haven't topped it off with fresh this week yet. And it's about 7 months old now. There is a fairly small (maybe 3-4 inches accross) rbta up ontop of my scape on the opposite end of the tank.

Hope that you mean 1.025. How are you measuring it?

I used to try to keep S. haddoni and E. quadricolor in the same tank, about 6 years ago. The S. haddoni wouldn't stay settled (( was an estblished one that I had already had in my care for 5 years or so )) until I finally removed all the E. quads.

Carpet?

Carpet?

I think the problem is chemical warfare between your 2 anemones...had 2 different nems in my 75 and endef up with one....I will take the bubble off your hands...:wavehand:

i to had tried RBTA and Haddoni together, and my haddoni wouldnt stay still until i took the RBTA's out of the tank... since ive taken the RBTA's out it hasnt moved one bit.

Well that is unfortunate! My RBTA is much brighter in ccolor obviously, but i think it will be getting the boot soon

Well, I ended up just moving the rocks that were around him on the 11th when the tank lights went off. For the past two days he hasn't moved and has been fully open. I fed both, my carpet nem, and my rbta silversides today. The carpet closed up and started sucking it in as soon as it touched him. They both seem healthy and content with where they are now, but I guess time will tell.

Edit:
My ocellaris has been on the side of the tank with the carpet much more than before the carpet was in the tank (which was almost never, from what i saw) and he just swims in place staring at it most of the time. I'm hoping one of these days i will walk by and he will just be in it.
One week from today I will be adding a pair of clarkii clowns and a black misbar ocellaris for the one i have in there now, so if the ocellaris clowns take the carpet and the clarkiis take the rbta that would be nice!
