haddoni w/ another nem?

cant be a good idea it seems but i want to hear what other people have to say about this.

i just recently set up a 20L with a haddoni nem inside it, right now its relatively small at 5-6" and i was wondering if another type of nem like a purple LTA or BTA would be a mistake to put inside this tank?

here is a pic for your viewing pleasure.....

Do you have any room for this haddoni in your 65g tank? The haddoni is going to take over that tank some day. That is if it survives the parameter swings of a small tank first.
this picture makes me sad.
beautiful anemone though..

oh well im sorry it makes you sad.

the 20 is plumbed into my 65 gallon, and im pretty sure it wont be too hard to find a new home for it when the time comes to pass it on.

Look me up when that time comes! :) I think it look good in the 20! I would be worried also if it wasnt plumbed to the 65! Nice score!

Besides it being in a 20, which I don't think will work long term (( Could very well out grow it in months )), I would suggest against mixing it with another anemone.

For this tank -- not enough room, another one could easily come into contact it -- someone will lose.

For any tank under 180, think chemical warfare will be an issue. I have tried this in the past with Haddonis mixed with either a BTA, and an LTA. With the LTA experience being the worse. In the BTA case, the BTA stayed put but the Haddoni would move once in a while. With the LTA, both anemones would move often. In both cases with the other anemone ( BTA and LTA ) was moved to another tank the moving stopped -- with no other changes.

I agree. I wouldn't even think of putting another anemone in there. I wouldn't even put one in the 65. The chemical warfare between two anemones in 100 gallons of water will not be good.

thanks, thats exactly the discouragement i needed before i went and done something i would regret. :)

though in the past i have seen pictures of haddonis and BTAs right next to each other, coming in contact even.

Not doubting that you saw the pictures, but I know that when my BTA clone touched my Haddoni, (( many many years ago )) the Haddoni took a beating -- which surprised me know how strong of a sting Hadonnis have.

hmmm that is weird, id imagine the haddoni to demolish a BTA if they ever duked it out.

but yea just saying about the pic, thats what got me to ask this question in the first place.

I thought it would have too, here is a picture of it right afterwards, the BTA only touched the side of it. (( back in 2004 )). Now, I have had two BTAs, LTAs, and Haddonis touch each other without issue, but since they were all the same species, wasn't surprised.
