Haddoni's appearing sick out of nowhere.. I think it was food... What should I do?

I can't believe this, but it looks like my red haddoni and green are sick. I didn't want to believe it, but I have treated the red twice already in the past year and a half. First was sick on its own after move and second was infected by another carpet. Nothing new has been added to the tank in the past 6 + months, all water parameters are fine.

I did stir up the bottom of the Refugium on accident and did a small water change after, could the dirt from the Refugium have stressed it out? I put in some fresh carbon and phosguard to try and aboard anything that got stirred up.

I have the seen the red small once. It is big right now but it's mouth is inverting out (looks somewhat like a white ballon)

Green has been looking on the smaller side and whenever the halides go off the white of its mouth starts to show.

All other carpets look fine.

How long should I observe until I know for sure treatment is needed? Would continuous water changes be helpful for the carpets?

Checked on them again (lights have been out) both the red and green now have only a little white showing in their mouths vs a lot like before, hopefully their mouths close up completely by tomorrow and do not do this again. I'm considering doing another 20% water change tomorrow as a just in case. The others look fine. Still have no clue about what is going on with them/ if I need to take action or not

If you do a search on silversides there have been many anemones get sick and die from eating them. This is due to no quality control by keeping them frozen. They get thawed and frozen many times and it creates disease. Not in all but in some and there really is no way to know if the package you have was part of the problem or not. So best not to feed silversides to anemone.

spoiled food will kill our anemones. The chance that silverside, being a pet foot, got spoiled (thawed out) during shipment is a lot higher than human food. With human food, if there is a chance that it is spoiled, it is discarded. This is not the same with pet food.
In addition to this, a small fish like silverside got frozen with gut intact will be spoiled much quicker even keep frozen.
Because of this two main reason, I do not feed silverside (or any smelly frozen food) to my tank, especially my anemones. I hope this answer the question why I don't bother to spend the money to buy silverside.

Other less important reasons are: The price silverside per pound is about as much as the average Sushi grade seafood. You will find that there are not many fish for sushi that is more expensive than silverside from Petco.
Also I can put seafood in my refrigerator but Silverside will be toss to the garbage by my wife the next time she open the refrigerator. I swear, her sense of smell is acute like that of a blood hound. I will get a lecture of not putting smelly stuff into her Sub-Zero

Looking into change water to optimize condition. Several years ago, when I neglect water change, my anemones act like that. Bubble up the internal lining around the mouth. Increase my water change solve the problem.

Yeah I only use fresh salmon and sushi grade tuna. Will freeze the left over my self on the same day and continue to use it, but never feed them silver sides.

Going to go fourth with more water changes. Question though, after making 40 gallons of water last night and mixing it, I realized today my tds was at 7-8 and the salt water was already made- would you use it for a change or toss it?

Cool. Thank you. Will use it for another wc tonight, hopefully it will make the red and green happy again. Also, someone mentioned to me I am supposed to let water that I mixed for x amount of hours, rest for several hours before using. Do you know if this is necessary? I always mix it and leave the pump on till I am ready to use it.

I often mixed the water for 24 hrs before use it. Newly mixed water is toxic to the animals. It is thought that there are a lot of toxic trace substance/metals in the newly mixed salt water. These trace metal need to be chelated and removed from the solution thus detoxify them.
If you put fish into a newly made salt water with the same salinity and temperature, they will died every time.

I usually mix my salt for 24 hours, shortest time I do is probably 8 hours. I just meant someone told me that after mixing for 24 hours you are supposed to turn the pump off and let the water rest for several hours (no movement) before using it and I never heard of that before

And yes saltwater not mixed enough would be terrible for fish especially carpets

You don't have to turn the pump off. I alway have about 50 gal on hand at all time. Allways with pump running until use
