It will help raise pH a tiny bit to boost alkalinity, but more importantly, the way that you routinely boost alkalinity can also be a way to boost pH (like limewater or a high pH two part additive, for example).
Hi, I stopped adding baking soda ( Alk is approx 130 mg/L right now) because my CA is now done to 260! It has been suggested that I can add my Reef complete & Baking soda at the same time. I have looked over a lot of the links you have given me but chemistry is all Greek to me. Could you tell me approx how much of the Ca and Baking Soda I can add at the same time? Is this the right thing to do?
When you say at the same time, that is Ok in the same day, but I would not mix them or add them at exactly the same moment during the day. Let one mix into the tank water well before adding anything else.
