hair algae on coral

just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to do w/hair algae on 2 of my corals it is only on my pocillapora & on 1 of my monti caps i pull it off w/tweezers scrape it ect, its not my water this is the only place in the tank i have it, and i have looked the tank over well, only on these 2 corals any ideas?

Manual removal should work but HA is usually due to water quality issues. Can you tell us more about your tank? How long has it been up, what are the parameters, how are you making water etc?

if it is on the corals then that part of the coral is dead. I would just cut off that area of the coral till you reach good tissue and remove it.

tank has beeen up about 7 years ,water is ro, weekly water changes of 10 gal, tank is 75 gal, its hard to remove some of it as far as removing the dead areas because there is healthy tissue and good growth above it, its not as bad as its been because i did remove alot of the dead tissue but it still continues to grow in these areas

I've found that if you keep placing snails near hair algae patches then odds are good that they will take care of it, but this is just a band aid until nitrates/phosphates are under control.

Came here to say just that. Algae won't grow on a healthy coral. You're going to need to do some pruning.

Algea will not grow on healthy corals. Trim off the bad spots and change or start using some form of phosphate remover to reduce food for the GHA.
