Hair Algae

That pic was a couple weeks ago. I think I've made it worse trying to pull it out because strands of it escaped and spread everywhere. First I ordered 4 lettuce nudies and a lawnmower blenny. They don't dent it. Then I read on RC to put a molly in there and you'll wake to a mowed tank. Pauline bought a Golden Platy instead and it didn't care for it. So I bought 2 black molleys a week ago, and they don't have any interest in eating it either. Now I have 3 useless FW fish in my SW tank plus algae continues to grow.

My next move is to turn the lights off for 3 days. I've read that will really weaken it and could start a cycle. I'm kinda scared of what it may do to my red macro. I plan on a 50% water change after I pluck the weak stuff off. (I love 50% water change ability! It's still half the volume I used to do to do 10% change)

I've ordered something similar to phosban on Randy's group order. Any other suggestions? Anyone got a tang I can borrow?

I had a big problem with it for a while. What worked for me was decreasing my light cycle by about 4 hours a day and decreasing nutrients. I also pulled a bunch out by hand, but didnt have any problem with it regrowing.

Maybe if you put a large clump of cheato or some sargasso it will starve it out. Meanwhile feed less. I have some in my tank but it isn't spreading much and doesn't bother me too much.
Good luck
